As part of ongoing humanitarian efforts to improve shelter conditions for displaced households, and with generous support from the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (#YHF_Yemen), #YGUSSWP implemented the first phase of the Cash for Shelter Maintenance and Upgrade activity, targeting the remaining 237 displaced households out of the total target of 400 households in Kushar District, Hajjah Governorate. This follows the first group of 163 households, completing the targeting of all 400 households under this phase.

Each beneficiary household received USD 168, equivalent to YER 88,200, based on the exchange rate applied on the day of distribution. This assistance enables households to carry out shelter maintenance and upgrading works according to their needs and priorities, helping address deficiencies that affect shelter safety and suitability.

The total cash assistance disbursed to the 237 households in this round amounted to USD 39,816, equivalent to YER 20,903,400. The total assistance allocated to each household is USD 240, distributed in two installments. The current installment represents 70% of the total, equivalent to USD 168, while the remaining 30%, equivalent to USD 72, will be disbursed once the requirements for completing the shelter maintenance works have been met in accordance with the approved procedures.

Through this intervention, YGUSSWP and YHF aim to help displaced households improve their shelters and make them safer and more suitable for their family members’ needs, thereby enhancing privacy and dignity and reducing risks associated with inadequate shelter conditions.

This intervention is part of the project:
