As part of humanitarian efforts to strengthen community safety within displacement sites, #YGUSSWP, in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council (#NRC) and with support from the European Union Humanitarian Aid (#ECHO), implemented a project aimed at strengthening fire prevention and emergency response capacity in Al-Azraqeen IDP Site, Hamdan District – Sana’a Governorate.
The project aims to increase the site’s
preparedness to respond to fire risks through the establishment and
rehabilitation of a specialized community center for firefighting and emergency
response, and equipping it with modern firefighting equipment and personal
protective equipment.
A community committee of volunteers was
also formed and trained on safety procedures, firefighting, evacuation
procedures, and first aid, to enhance response speed and reduce risks.
The project contributed to raising
awareness of fire risks and prevention methods, and strengthening a culture of
safety within the site, reducing the likelihood of incidents and their impacts,
and contributing to a safer and more stable environment for residents.
